Poster: A snowHead

My wife has got a new job working in a school. That means we can't do our usual 3rd ski week as I don't fancy going at half term. But that leaves the option of me taking a week on my own !
I've done about 20 weeks of piste skiing and on the last few trips I've dabbled in the deep stuff at the sides of the piste. Long term I'd like to get into ski touring but as a first step I really need to get to grips with off-piste skiing. For this week without my wife I'd like to focus on learning off-piste skills, preferably in a group so I'm not a total billy-no-mates all week. Snow Shepherd seem to do a course that suits me, Inside Out have one that's a mixture of piste/off-piste but sounds like fun. UCPA seem great value but I'm a bit worried that their total off-piste beginner might be too basic and their advanced courses too advanced.
Anyone got any experience of any of these, or other options to suggest?
Also - I'm spending Christmas and New Year in Champoluc - any recommendations for ski schools or guides? I hope to sneak in a day of instruction there.

I can't be sure without seeing you ski and seeing the make up of the group, but I doubt if the UCPA would be too basic. I've had similar wks skiing to you, maybe a bit more off piste, though none with an instructor or guide, and I did a UCPA Off Piste week in Serre Chevalier in January. It was great, and as a bonus we did a day's touring in the middle of the wk.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The snowheads offpiste bash would be perfect for you, if the dates work - check out the events section.
I'll be doing it for the second thime this year - the first time was probably the best week of skiing I've ever done.

Hi,
We will be running some off piste weeks this season in the Porte Du Soleil through our ski academy www.pds-academy.co.uk along with some other advanced clinic weeks.
The off-piste clinics are led by Aaron part of the Fisher free ride team. Great guy and fantastic coach.
If you would like a bit more information, our adult courses should all be on the website by next week or drop us an email at enquiry@pds-academy.co.uk and we would be happy to help.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@fixx, thanks for pointing that out, I've now booked myself on to the Bash. Ridiculously over-excited about it already.
