Yes HB got on the telly !
Saturday was good. Sunday a bit drizzly to start but cleared up and good skiing if typically Pennine ; 80% snow 20% grass.

Snow cover at Yad Moss this morning. Not enough for skiing yet but a bit more should fall this pm as north easterly showers arrive. Below freezing all day tomorrow.

So basically what most European resorts would look like without snow making

Raise could be in for a shout by Friday as long as it doesn't go too northerly, at which point the northern Lakes become sheltered by the Galloway hills.
Yad Moss tends to be a bit rubbish with a westerly and particularly a WNW. Its straight up the slope and even more sheltered than the northern Lakes. Weardale may fare better ?
Worth keeping the weekend free for the keen.

Raise is open today. A little more snow is falling this morning. The forecast is good today and I would expect there to be plenty of fun up there even though the runs will be a bit thin and narrow in some places. The cold snow should be excellent and the ground should be thoroughly freeze dried making any snowy grass skiable.
Weardale are also hoping to run today and should be able to push a bit of snow around.
As expected the snow just blew straight up the run at Yad Moss.
Tomorrow the snow will turn to rain but it does look colder again by mid week.

Good skiing day being reported on Raise.
The tow won't run tomorrow due to a poor forecast.

mountainaddict,
Have you considered a search on eBay for some grass skis? You could put them in your rucksack for the ascent and then visit the Northern Grasshouse all year long!

Into the freezer from Wednesday as the easterly begins. That's a good direction for Yad Moss if we can get some precipitation. Looks like snow tonight but probably too mild for it to stick around tomorrow.
Raise may be a possibility, although a south easterly isn't ideal there.
Getting closer

Not skiable at YM today but that looks about to change with 10cms tomorrow morning drifting down and across the runs on a NE wind.
We intend to carry out an inspection in the morning and will try to run the tow tomorrow if it becomes skiable.
The B6277 may be difficult from Middleton however if the snow is heavy and is blown off the moors and over the carriageway. Sunday looks very windy but Monday and Tuesday may be ok?

No go today at Yad Moss but the snow is filling in the runs which now look to be skiable. We will be going up tomorrow and hope to run the tow from 10:30. Could be a struggle.
Plan for full on winter conditions, on the access roads as well as the slope. Wrap up warm and don't forget a spade to dig off the carriageway if necesssry to let the plough past. don't forget your goggles :s 8

Wow that was a wild day. Haven't had one of those at YM for a long time. Memories of the 70s and 80s. Lots of very resilient skiers and riders up there today. The ride down was great. It was just the ride up into the teeth of a freezing 40 mph snow storm that took a bit of getting used to.
We'll be doing it all again tomorrow on Monday. Just a lot less windy. Phew. Time for a cup of tea.

Heavy icing overnight. Took a while to knock it off the top pylons. Good fast skiing and plenty of snow at the top but poor visibility at times and the snow became increasingly saturated. Still no queues.
