Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

which boot/flex 13 year old?

Hi all,
my son has just turned 13 , weighs 45kg and is 1m 52cm tall, he has been skiing since he was 5 and I would say he is competent intermediate level, this year he now needs a 26 mondo size boot, which is an adult size, any idea on the right flex rating for him? I've been given a pair of Head Edge+ boots worn only once but they have a 90flex and I think they may be to stiff for him..
thx

I think 90 would be too much....maybe around 60/70 would be better....just remember that Flex Ratings are not an exact science.

I also think at his stage, it is better to be able to flex a boot a little too easily, than not at all.

@british-, obviously depends on foot shape, but my kids have been good in Nordica Dobermann youth boots - from 22 through to 26. We have a big pile of these and they seem to work well, even for competition-level coaching sessions.

You can buy kids boots at Mondo 26/26.5 such as:

http://www.ekosport.co.uk/N2-outlet/N51-equipment/N501-alpine-skiing/N2003-ski-boots.html

Flex seems to be about 60/70.

if he were a racer then a youth boot of flex 80-90 would probably be in order, as an intermediate skier 70 is probably closer to the mark, but at 13 years old he should be in a youth boot not an adult one as the cuff will be too high and unless he has feet which are square and very wide the edge will fit him about as well as the box they came in

Thx guys, he does have very wide feet (like me ) about 102mm,
Think I'll just rent him a pair and ask the tech what he thinks, going to Soelden 4th Feb
