Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone been to praz yet this season. Looks like most is closed and only les saises is open?
St gervais looked like at least it had paths open meaning you could ski from top to mid station...
Is praz always so badly hit or is this the worst season start yet?
Looking at buying there so interesting seeing how each resort handles the poor start....

Les Saisies only had 19 pistes open until now (currently snowing heavily so that should soon change). Praz s A does have a shorter season even in good snow years - LS closes several weeks later. The Arly Valley skiing is lovely in good conditions but as it's fairly low, it's inevitably a bit of a lottery. Been bad the last few early seasons but so have lots of places. We saw instructors from Megeve in Les Saisies at Christmas - there was nothing open in Megeve which, as you know, is just next door to Praz.

Les Saisies has by far the best snow in the area. Personally I wouldn't buy in Praz s A.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Praz is a nice place withh lots of varied accommodation an dhave stayed there a few times over the years. One thing they can do well is make snow. They work miracles on their nursery areas and that tends to last well. You would certainly make a better investment in Saisies as Pam says, it always has better snow than much around it, in many cases regardless of equivalent height, proper snow trap. I only wish we had bought there years ago when we had an option on. €55k apt right next to piste and resort centre.... rolling eyes

@skinutter is right about the Praz nursery areas. In times of high pressure with big temperature inversion it can be cold enough to blow snow in the valley - last Christmas (2015) the nursery slopes in Praz were better than Les Saisies, where it was too warm to blow snow. Christmas 2016, however, we had excellent conditions in LS, albeit on less than a third of pistes.
