Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

For those who maybe interested, below is the list of stuff i am taking to help the repairs, i did similar after my TPF and and was skiing well before the doctors thought i would... it appeared to help repair and give longterm benifits..
If you dont believe in this stuff then please dont leave stupid comments, this is for people who may actually be interested.. thanks

I Was on homeapathic Arnica for trauma, but stopped this morning.
Symphytum. Also known as knitbone... does what it says..
Urticalcin.... helps bone calcification in the right places
Magnesium and home made almond milk and vitamin D for bones
Vitamin C with Glucosmin &. Conjointin with MSM for collagen and general tissue repair
Plus devils claw ..herbal anti-inflammatory

@yorkshirelad, I've an personal and repeated success with Arnica and knitbone. As for magnesium, I prefer to get this via a Epsom salt bath. I think supplements are well worth it, but only really add benefit when all other aspects of diet, rehab and recovery are on point.

Cant do the epsom salt bath yet as ive too many scabs ..lol. Should be having first bath on monday..
As you say, this all has to be taken in conjuction with a rehab program, but i thought i was worth it last time. ..

3 weeks post op.
Still not allowed to do anything with the leg, not even leg raises as the break is unsupported, trying to do other cv work but finding the leg is Restrictive. . The stitches in the muscle from the traction unit are also stopping me doing much bending. Had first epsom salt bath today, since then lots of nerve firing and twitching.. also Started magnetic treatment this afternoon.... it might help. ... supposed to be good for broken bones...

I had no choice but to have surgery in italy, if you have the option i would suggest getting home to UK for it otherwise, i thought that being in a ski resort hospital they would be used to all sorts, but they are about 15 years behind UK in this type of repair, but they did look after me well.

MrsHD had a similar experience a few years ago in Sestriere when she fell on the ice rink and snapped both bones in her wrist. She couldn't fly home because of the bone breaking through the skin so had an op in Turin.

The surgeons back home said they'd have done things differently but were happy with the overall operation/scaffolding.

I wanted said scaffold to make a hook in the garage but the miserable sods wouldn't let us keep it.

4 weeks post op and the scars have healed really well, (cant seem to post anymore pics!!) leg feels like it wants to be walked on, but another two weeks to go, . Leg feeling good, more excersizes being done now as the swelling has nearly all gone and no pain at the moment. Trying to do loads of cv work, so tomorrow im going to do a lot of walking on crutches..

@yorkshirelad,

After hitting something under the snow offpiste I once suffered a bit of ligament damage and a hairline fracture at the top of my tib.
The tib damage only came to light approx 7 days after the accident when the MRT results came back. I hated the crutches and thought they were overcautious but after reading a story on the tinternet about a Snowboarder who didn't wait for things to heal properly I was motivated to use the crutches. The snowboader's knee went partway through his tib as it split, just because he couldn't wait a few weeks he probably won't walk properly again.

Nearly 9 weeks post op now and starting to walk with just one crutch, weight bearing going very well, ankle still a bit tender from lack of use though. Two more weeks and will try to be crutch free, only wearing plastic boot to go outside in.

11 weeks post op x-rays show that the fib is healing very well, the top of the tibia where the main breaks were is also doing very well, but the loose shard at the front still looks to be floating around, there is stuff in the gap but its not calcifying yet, hooefully in another 4 to 5 weeks it should, doctor is saying that it will all have knitted together by 15/16 weeks post op with a break like this. So im still on one crutch and building muscle up... the bike is still limited to 20 minutes light training... its slow but im getting there.
