Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Touring when not very fit.

I've always tried to have a good up to down ratio when touring ie if you need to skin up 500m you should get at least double that on the way down. I want to take it to the next level, no up at all.
What do people think about 100% lift served touring. I can see loads of advantages, no need for special light skis or even skins, easy access to pisted snow, and cheaper insurance.
The only downside I can see is having to buy a lift pass.

@jbob, excellent idea. I have an underused in winter elicopter that might help?

Great idea, but I'm not sure that this should be available throughout the winter. Surely the lifts should be reserved for on-piste skiers who are the bread and butter of resorts' income. Maybe your 100% lift-served touring should be reserved for the end of the season only, perhaps from 1 April through to the end of the season?

@jbob,

Are you fed up at home now or what?

Nice day tours like the Crochues-Berard fit into your happy medium. The authorities however need to piste the last mile as it was a very unaccomodating on Monday.

@HammondR, great idea. All those piste machines are doing nothing all day, why not get them on the off piste and make it a bit easier to ski. That's the trouble with skiing it's too difficult.

And, yes.

Yes, I'm a bit confused too. How is touring without any uphill any different from skiing around a big ski area? Do you mean just that you book accommodation in different villages every night and wear the same thermals a few days in a row?
