Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sorry for the confusion re. dates, I can't do the pre-season-bash (I should be in Fernie) and as much as I love the eosb (end-of-season-bash) I'm getting fit enough to slide for a full day and would like to have good conditions from first to last lift to really hammer home the skills-base back into muscle memory. That's why I suggested the pre-birthday-bash as an option. It also gives the opportunity to stay on for the full birthday bash (Feb). I have much further to fly to get there so two weeks is far better value for me and I miss my Italy fix . . . food, drink, 'spray on' skis trews Blush

Ok, less confused now!

I've got the week before the BB pencilled-in for a freeride camp in Areches Beaufort, but could potentially move that to the following week if the pre-BB was definite (hey, never turn-down a weeks' work...)

I'm pretty flexible, happy to do anything from a day or two to a full week. On piste, off-piste, technique, carving, freestyle, splitboarding...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I think it highly irresponsible of you @Robin Agogo, to start this conversation and not see it through to benefit from the results.

Started reading this post and was going to throw Maverix/James Streater into the mix. This year will be my 4th trip with J, always a mixed week of freestyle, carving/piste performance and plenty of off piste adventures. But now I’ve got sidetracked looking a steve’s shiny new website. Any further information on the 20th Jan week @stevomcd, ?

Hi @wilko86, 20th Jan is a week of pure off-piste riding. We do some avalanche education, we will slide in some technique advice if it’s needed, but the goals is mainly to ride the best snow we can find for the 5 guided days.

I now Jay / Maverix, we fid some instructor training and some races together.

I’d be keen, but need to convince the boyfriend. He’s not got that much off piste experience yet, but we’re on a camp with j the week before. What is included in the price? Guiding 5d and chalet (7 nights?), lift pass extra?

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Guiding 5 days, 7 nights in the chalet with chalet board (i.e. breakfast every day and dinner on 6 evenings) & all-inclusive drinks (i.e. free booze...). Lift pass is extra, but as it's Sainte Foy, it's only €160ish.

It's a good week to come if your bf is not sure of his level as we'll be running 3 groups, so can potentially split things by ability, etc. Equally, we run a "Backcountry Intro" week later in the season with a bit more instruction. Hopefully 2 groups on that one as well, so still some scope for different levels (or there's our girls' BC camp running that week too!).

 You know it makes sense.

OP ...... there is no easy fix to this, instruction is only (less than) half of the equation.

Slope time is king, especially when it's not easy going. It's no video game. Sorry.

So just forget instruction, move to the Alps, and go find some rubbish conditions to ride in? I want to be amazing NOW dammit! Laughing

Recently went on the above camp. Great instructors, great accommodation and a great group of people to board with. Thoroughly enjoyable week apart from the shoulder injury picked up on the last afternoon ! The instructors work around the group and when there was fresh powder didn't stick to the planned itinerary which was good. The only downside is you realise just how many poor habits you've picked up over the years and you feel like a complete beginner again. Hopefully I'll notice the improvement more in 6 weeks when I go again.

Cheers @Graucho!

I should also do a report 😀

I ended up going on the Onyx Snowboarding camp in La Plagne, just before Christmas. The trip was perfectly timed.. loads of snow just before we arrived, and before the weather chaos that hit early Jan.

The instructors made great use of the fresh snow and we had a brilliant first day getting to know each other as we bombed through powder with varying degrees of elegance 😀

This might work..

11 people on the trip, split into two groups with an instructor each, Baden and Adam, who were great. Video feedback in the evening, instructor swaps and I learned how euro Carve.. I'm happy 😀
