 Poster: A snowHead

Some of you will have read a few things about my smallest one, aged 11, who has lived for skiing and mountain-biking since he could walk. In fact the moment he managed to stop falling over trying to walk, we put him on skis and he had to start all over again. He took it well. All of which means that he can now ski a great deal better than I can. Luckily, even at 11 he is very considerate and indulgent of those who ski slower than him - i.e. at less than light speed - or worse than him - i.e. when picking our way down rocky steeps.
He has been growing his hair to a ridiculous length, well below his shoulders, and now has decided to cut and donate his hair to a medical charity which makes wigs for children affected by chemotherapy and other medical interventions or conditions. He thought very hard about the difficulties which children face when they are undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It's something which he decided to do himself, and discussed it fully with us, and I set up a Just Giving page to support him. If you feel like donating, just go onto Just Giving - type 'just giving;. then in the search bar just type 'Oates hair' and that will get you there.

Hmm...thanks for the compliment re Alex...it's the outcome of hanging out with Alpine guides and athletes I think. A nice maturity in one so young...

I would like to take the opportunity to BUMP up this thread and point out that several SnowHeads have chipped in, but that Alex is only a fiver short of his target. It would be so nice to smash it with SnowHeads help
