Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi SnowHeads,
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this so please do take it off if i'm breaking the rules! I am hosting a BASI Level 1 course and Level 2 course this summer on Les Deux Alpes glacier and wondered if anyone would be interested in doing their qualifications with us.
I am a BASI Business partner so don't make money out of hosting the courses, I facilitate them on behalf of BASI (BASI supply a trainer) but if you chose to do some training with me that would obviously be business for me. I do have training running but would like to draw your attention more to the actual BASI courses!
I hope this is an acceptable post and if anyone would be interested in becoming a BASI instructor or would like more advice on this please don't hesitate to respond to this post!
Alex

Are you a BASI Charity Partner? Are you seriously saying you facilitate courses for BASI and make nothing for doing so?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Actually I'm seriously saying that I don't make money from hosting the exams, If people train/ski with me before the exams then I do obviously make money from this. In fact there is a cost to hosting the exams if you don't fill the courses as I have to pay a minimum number of places.

@unreal, If you feel that I should remove the post I am more than happy to. I had obviously wanted to fill the places on the course but also more importantly wanted to make people aware that this is a possibility so those wanting to go off teaching next winter or wanted to teach at home could come and get their qualifications now rather than having to wait. As I say though I'm really not wanting to break the rules and I love to just chat skiing as well so if you feel I should remove the post I'm happy to!

@moseyp, Thank you I have plastered the information all over the social media! Level 2 is booking up nicely could do with a few more on the Level 1 but its getting there! Just thought snowheads might be the right kind of people interested in doing these things!

You'll get to see more forums and be part of the best ski club on the net.

Personally I think it's great that you're highlighting such things here - it's always good to have more experienced instructors joining in on snowheads.
I think what moseyp meant was the "BASI community hub" and "BASI Members (private)" groups on facebook - I don't see any mention of these courses there. They also aren't on the BASI course calendar as far as I can see, which would be the most obvious place that someone would look especially for the L1 course before they've worked out that there are alternatives to booking these things through BASI.

You're right about that being impossible to find! I've specifically looked for such things in the past and never found it. Would it really be so hard for BASI to just add them to the main course calendar? Pffff.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I've given in on the basi website

Just saw today that BASI have posted a tutorial video on how to book on a course. If such things need a tutorial video I think that just agrees with us that there is an underlying problem.

You know it makes sense.

I can certainly vouch for Alex. I've skied with her and I know people who have taken many lessons and been highly satisfied.
