Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yes, I've used them many times under the old www.bergfreunde.co.uk name.

They actually held a competition for the new website name, and Alpine Trek was the best option.

They're perfectly reliable. Formerly the UK website for bergfreude, but the whole operation now owned by backcountry.com - they were bought out c12-18 months ago afaik. Bought some kit last month and the usual fast trackable delivery to uk.

@kitenski, Looking at a specialist camera rucksack for Alps in summer.

Thanks for feedback all, think i'll go for it. In general terms I thought that buying from likes of Sport Conrad was a no-no nowadays, but hopefully not too bad if things have settled down, I was thinking that could get hit for import duty etc?

 You know it makes sense.

@Markymark29, from what I saw over the weekend some shops specifically state no VAT or custom duties, others state you'll need to pay them so check carefully!

Glisshop have an extra 15% discount code that finishes today, their website says the following, but their delivery charge to the UK is £19!

Will I have to pay any fees when my package is delivered?
No, if you are in the European Union, you will not be charged any additional fees.

In Switzerland or the UK, our delivery charges include transport and customs. You will therefore not be charged any additional fees upon reception.

snowleader have 20% off the entire website at the moment, their website says:

VAT incl. Delivery with EVRI
The products you order will be billed all charges included. The prices displayed on our website snowleader.co.uk include 20% VAT, as well as customs fees. You will not have to pay anything else when receiving your order!

Another thing to be wary about is returns, the complexity/cost of returning to a European based outfit vs UK.

I think about how likely I may need to return something, like an ill-fitting piece of clothing/helmet/goggles etc. when I can’t try it on first vs a straightforward piece of kit.

@kitenski, just jumped on the Lange touring boots I was posting about a couple of weeks ago. £215 from Snowleader with the extra discount. Worth a try even if they end up going back
