Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Conditions on Saturday were fabulous, very pleasant temperature, warm sunshine and even a bit of spring snow to be found on South facing aspects in the afternoon. Not too many people around either.

Yesterday the visibility came and went with a letterbox of light between the Blunt and Attelas. Everything's holding up really well and the baltic temperatures this week will conserve the snow really well.

Looking at being a first time visit to 4v (next year, I can never get enough of skiing). Have read the great descriptions posted here on the satellite villages, pluses and minuses. Not adverse to them, but is it worthwhile to be in verbier the first time we visit. We do enjoy walking around the towns in zermatt and chamonix when we visited those places, even if we will stay in and self cater dinners 1/2 of our weekly trip.

IMHO it is advisable to stay in Verbier every time you visit, not just the first 😉

Unless you want to minimize accommodation costs (everything else costs broadly the same) at the cost of location (village vibe, après, shops, facilities, afternoon sunshine etc) and convenience aka time to get to the best skiing

A good compromise in verbier is to stay in le chable, thus forcing you not to stay in the bars all night and thereby saving you €€€€. Its often quicker up to ski from le chable than verbier and you also have the option of Bruson as well. I tend to do my apres and then take one of the last bubble's down to le chable, tucked up early and ready to go for the next day. As bob points out though, there is a marked difference in the vibe between le chable and verbier station. Toofy Grin

We are definitely not a massive apres family. Could not convince my 14yo to watch some of the revelry at folie Duce this year at 3v. Things may change but the big bar scene hasn’t been important to us (yet).

It’s more of seeing thing rather than being cooped up in the apartment after skiing. For instance first Trip To meribel this year. We wound up booking high above in Monterrat and where we stayed wasn’t easily accessible even to the Monterrat drag, so super convenient to ski, but isolating otherwise. Do any of the satellites have a decent enough real town vibe that stays open after lifts stop to explore?

@Redwine, Le Châble is just the ticket for you. Half a dozen restaurants, a dozen bars, pretty town, options to stroll to other villages. Plenty of accommodation options.

Plenty of fresh snow above 2,000 over the weekend. Couldn’t see a great deal. Snuck in a cheeky front face Mt Gele before the weather came in yesterday.

Snowing down to 1,000 this morning. Looks like brightening up mid week.

@coddlesangers, call Powder Extreme and explain what you are after. I’ve skied with Adri and Anders who were great. Steve Sparks has been skiing with them for years. From what I hear all their coaches are good. Bring your powder skis!

@BobinCH.......Grrrrraarrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhh. Took the day off, was ready to rock and roll, and as I was literally packing my bags into the car I got a call from work with a sick colleague meaning I had to head to the office instead. I'm trying not to think about it. I was beyond raging all day. I'm still raging. However it looks like next Tuesday could be just as good with the added benefit of a bit colder....so readjusting the plan appropriately. I shouldn't complain, I've had lots of amazing days this season but.... feic.

@coddlesangers, I did a day with Seb from Pow Ex on Tuesday and it was brilliant despite poor vis. Well over 50cm on Mt Fort.

Wednesday was one of the best days of the season. Everything was excellent. Vallon d’arbi very special.

We probably has another 40cm yesterday. Snowed down to 1000m overnight.

Middle of this coming week looks very, very good

Wow last week looks like it was probably the week of the season! Blue skies, cold temps and amazing snow. Sunday was another bluebird day so went for a gentle tour towards Rosablanche. Busy with the PdG’ers

10-20 cm of fresh last night...but fresh is not the same as powder...heavy lower down, and not powdery higher up.

Still nice though.

Pistes lovely, though a warmish day so slushy low down.
Not at all busy.

Overall depths are mega though, if you are looking for late season skiing Verbier is open until the last Sunday in April, and you should have zero concerns about "will there still be snow?"...it will still be 100% coverage without a shadow of doubt.
