Poster: A snowHead

Booked with Monarch for a flight to Turin in Jan and I've paid for ski carriage. There's a weight limit of 20kg which is fine but I'm planning on taking two pairs plus bits and pieces in a double bag. Monarch were a bit vague when I asked about what was or wasn't allowed. I'm hoping they're a bit like Lufthansa who are pretty laid back so long as the weight's okay.
Does anyone have any experience with Monarch and ski carriage?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

You can take 2 pairs of skis in 1 bag so long as they do not go over the weight of 20kg. My skis + bindings weigh about 8-9kg so you should be good putting 2 pairs in there.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Splinkio, Thanks for that. Two pairs of skis and a bit of 'padding' it is then .

@esaw1, yep, as above. Did exactly this last season, no issues as long as the bag isn't overweight. In fact in Turin, they didn't even bother to weigh it.

I've always payed for 1 piece of standard hold luggage with other companies BA, Jet2, Sleazyjet ect and packed all my clothes plus skis into it (staying below the weight limit ofc) and never had a problem, should I be ok doing the same on Monarch?

Will you be able to get a refund given the company folding?

@Klammertime, as always 'it depends'. For Monarch, ATOL only covers package holidays not flight only, as they withdrew from the flight-only protection scheme last year.
If you booked on a credit card then you're will be ok as you can claim back provided that the cost of the flight was £100.
If you booked using a debit card there is a scheme called Chargeback, but it's not legally binding so you could his issues.
