Robboj minor No1 is off to Saas Fee from 28/12 until 6/1 to join his buddy whom is instructing there.
Sensible answers please as to how much spending money to provide. We want him to enjoy and not have watch every rappen but also not provide too much and fund excessive nonsense although pretty sensible lads so not too worried.
Thoughts please?

Large beer about CHF7, lunch about CHF20 plus a drink. Does he need to buy food in the evening?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's worth getting a pre-paid card which saves on withdrawal fees and transaction costs regardless. I've got a Revolut card and others have used Monzo quite happily. Might as well save the pennies. There's also a good app that goes along with it, breaking down what the money is spent on. You could probably install that on your own phone and spy on your son
Actually, now that I think about it, that's a good point about the pre-paid cards. It's a doddle to top them up from wherever. So, you wouldn't have to give him all the money at once, if he's running out then all he needs to do is text you.

@robboj, depends a bit on how much money he's used to having IRL, but I suggest 75CHF / day as it's an expensive place

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Is this an advert? The OP was asking about costs in Saas Fee. Can you help?

Thanks all for your response. He already has a currency card from his summer inter-railing.
@telford_mike, He's home tonight so I'll find out for sure, I suspect some evening meals out will be likely although his friends folks have a place there so cooking facilities are available and he's used to cooking for himself.
@red 27, Does your 75CHF include an evening meal out? He's a student in halls so not skint but used to being careful with much less than circa £56 a day to spend normally.

A curmudgeonly response, @telford_mike. It was a perfectly sensible suggestion.

We normally cater for around 30e* per person per day on the slopes which covers a morning coffee, lunch, the inevitable afternoon ghluvine and an end of day beer.
I do try and limit the morning stops but being the man of the house my plea often falls on deaf ears.
*obviously swiss will vary but it gives an idea.
