Actually that run is nowhere near as gnarly as it looks. The camera angle is very deceptive. If you are a competent red run skier on a normal ski day it's a breeze. Not so much fun when it's icy though.

That's fine with us. Six am flight so got up at 1.45 in order to do cheap off site parking and get to Brum at 4. Fine so far but 3 TUI ski flights at the same time meant a 45 min check in queue. Then a 15 min ski bag drop off queue. Then the longest ever security queue meant no breakfast, even a coffee. We ran to the plane at 5.55 and we weren't the last to board. So still tired and stressed and it's going to be rainy tomorrow! Hotel internet does not work, along with several other first world problems! Still looking forward to seeing everyone. If anyone else wants to come another day, happy to meet up. I'm off to bed now.

Have a great time. Just a heads up, the traffic to, and the queues at, Salzburg on our return to Brum were absolutely awful, so if you are going back from there leave plenty of time. We had a Text the night before saying apologies but we were going to be leaving from terminal 2. There are very few facilities or seats there which wasn’t a problem really as by the time we cleared security it was time to join the boarding queue. Fingers crossed you get terminal 1

Bad vis first thing but you're right, it was snow not rain! Improved but then got worse again. Late lunch for us and it seems to be brightening. Nice!

@CANV CANVINGTON, I hope you're right! Went on the bus to the Grosseck Speiereck area today. Not big, did just about all by lunchtime but a nice change of scenery. A lot less depth of snow though. Ok high but we skied down to St Michael and the last bit was a strip of artificial snow between greenery! Unbelievable!

It won’t get any better if the sun is out.. flat track high speed on easy pistes ..

Was lovely early this morning but then the wind got up and the vis got worse this afternoon. Got back about 4.30 and it's got worse. Snowing, though, so can't really complain. No idea about tomorrow's weather. The daily forecasts have been spectacularly wrong so far!

@CANV CANVINGTON, no, no night skiing. Done it a couple of times but not keen. Ski in day, drink, swim, sauna, shower then a nice dinner. No time!  BTW, your weather forecasts are better than Google!

@queenie pretty please, I think its very unfair to say it is poorly groomed based just on yesterday. I have skiied there countless times and never thought this at all, and I have skiied opening day and closing day most years, it has always been really good.
The thing is with yesterday, I got there at first lift and had 2 amazing powder on piste runs, the slopes were as smooth as underfoot, but the problem is when they get a big dump like that within a few hours (and it was literally just that as when I checked the webcams at 7 the road was free, but I needed chains on an hour later) couple that with extremely poor viz and its a bit of a hazard to go out bashing when the slopes are open and it was very busy up there.
The slopes get chopped up just within an hour with that amount of traffic unfortunately.
I have experienced exactly the same conditions this year in Flachau/Wagrain/Schladming ( all with great visability too) yet there were no bashers in sight, but I still wouldnt say they are poorly groomed.
You just need another day up there with me before this season is over, you WILL see the way of The Grim O
