Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Travel Insurance for Mountain Biking

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
OK .. I know, we are a Snow Forum, but we have a lot of knowledge about other stuff.

My son has booked a holiday in July to go to Argentiere with UCPA to do "electric mountain biking"

I'm trying to help him decipher and find an economical, single trip, travel insurance.
I'm reluctant to fill out a comparison site application as we will be swamped with spam within minutes.

I thought this would be quite easy ... but when you delve into the exclusions Mountain Biking is often not covered.

Action Outdoors have a tie up for the winter sports insurance but not for the summer one.

Has anyone got any views on this?

@DrLawn, under new data protection laws (valid from 25th May) you should be able to use comparison sites without loads of spam. I did our car insurance a couple of days ago, and all I've received back from them all is a list of quotes by email, no phone calls or other rubbish. You have to check a box (rather than uncheck one) for phone calls from the cheapest providers and other contact.

Cheers @Hells Bells,
I may try that a bit later then.

The simplest offer and site I've found so far is oddly enough "SnowCard" for about £21 for a week.

@DrLawn, that sounds like a decent enough price for a week.

Thanks guys!

I've looked a bit deeper into the SnowCard and the mountain biking is £21 for basic on road ...
but if you use it "Mountain biking - cross country and trail riding" it goes up to £33 Mad

Whats the point of mountain biking if your not doing that?

Anyway Grrrr! Sad

Thanks @Frosty the Snowman ... Axa are in the lead now at £15

But they don't stipulate what flavour of Mountain Bike, just if its more or less than 3 days use.

@DrLawn, maybe put this in the MTB thread as there are many on there that travel to Europe in the summer etc for mountain bike activities.

And I will make no comment as to why a "son" is going "electric mountain biking" Toofy Grin

And if you think some of those premiums are bad for adding trail riding etc - you want to try adding kitesurfing to an adventure sports insurance policy in Africa sub continent!!!

Hi @Weathercam, I'll go and find the MTB thread then.
Thanks.

Yes I know ... electric MTB sounds a bit odd ... a bit like ski lifts I suppose. Very Happy

He did the kite surfing thing a few years ago, once was enough.

Or get AAC membership for a bit more (think £47) and have year round rescue cover for all your mountain sports including the skiing.
