Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stopover between Troyes and Dijon

 Poster: A snowHead

Evening all, looking for a cheap but half decent motel to stop over somewhere between Troyes and Dijon on Wednesday 9th January. Presumably it’s a fairly common thing to do on the drive down to the Alps? Thanks!

On reflection we’ll be wanting to stay closer to Troyes rather than Dijon.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

le val moret 3-Star motel, 5 mins off the A5 at Jct.22, south of Troyes with an indoor swimming pool and secure parking outside the rooms: https://www.le-val-moret.com/en/ I'd recommend one of the balcony rooms if they suit you.

B&B Troyes, 3 km off the motorway, next to Le Clerc for cheap fuel. About €50 for a double with breakfast.

Stopped at Val Moret, more expensive but good if you want more than a bed. It was the Andouilette festival when I stayed, now that is an acquired taste!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There is an Italian next door, a Buffalo Grill about 250 m away and a Brasserie thing in between. Its a classic industrial estate motel, but with secure parking and v good wifi its the choice of champions for those on a mad dash from the Channel Ports to the Savoie Very Happy

Thanks guys! Think one of those will be perfect. The B&B looks ideal.

We stayed at La Fralinette https://goo.gl/6S8vhs , which is 5km down the road from Le Val Moret. It was £58 for a double room including breakfast. It was fairly simple but we thought that it was very good value and the owner, Stephane, was very helpful. They have secure parking away from the road. As they don't serve dinner, we drove back to Le Val Moret and had a very good meal.

We always stay in the Campanile south of Troyes as it’s just of the route and easy to skip back on in the morning. Cheap, handy and clean. We never bother with the breakfast, not great value. Just grab a croissant and a coffee half an hour into the journey at a service station.

@LaForet, thanks for the tip. We stayed there last Saturday night. Just the job. 81€ plus another 12€ each if you wanted breakfast. 2 mins back on the road. We may try some of the other suggestions next time but lots of good suggestions here!

Grand Tulip Troyes next to Troyes Airport just off the motorway, I'm using it shortly on the way down to the Alps. Its out of town, looks decent enough and is well priced (circa 60 for a double) and has a decent sized carpark with a restaurant attached.
