Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow footwear for paraplegics

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, I am paraplegic with a full amputation of my left leg. I am trying to find ski/snow boots which are easy to get on as the one I own zips half way down the boot and I can’t manipulate my foot enough to get it on. Last time I went sit skiing at Tamworth I had to wear my Vans shoe as I couldn’t get the boot on and ended up with a heel sore cause it got so wet.

Does anyone have any suggestions?? Ideally I don’t want to spend hundreds of pounds but would like something that is robust enough to wear on a ski holiday as well as on the indoor slopes.

Thanks, Adam.

@Adam81, Sorel do a wide range of waterproof boots, which are lace up, maybe they’d be good and warm too.....might be some online deals now it’s end of season? Welcome to SH by the way.

Thanks for the welcome! The boot I have was from Decathlon and I really struggle to get my foot in it. I’ll have a look at Sorel and see what they have.

@Adam81, Sorel's are well regarded but I odn't think cheap.

Decathlon do varoius models, at least, out here (France), including some Sorel look alikes.

@Adam81, welcome to Snowheads. My OH wears 'Woof Wear short yard boots' for gardening, as he finds them so easy to get on and off, they're waterproof and have Velcro straps. They're sold all over the place, just Google for them. They also do a long version, but that might not be as easy to get into.

What about a snowboard boot? They open out easily enough so you should have good access and are warm and waterproof. Second hand pairs often go for peanuts on eBay so should be easy enough to get hold of - heck if you're a size 8UK i've an old pair of Van Encores you can have with the Boa lacing you can have on spec.

£25-£30 inc postage should sort you out for used snowboard boots in good condition. Quick look and there is a pair of s12 ThirtyTwo brand boots which might give you easier on-off access for £15. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you, and Welcome to Snowheads snowHead
