Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead

Please could anyone recommend a suitable knee brace to wear for skiing after a lateral tibial plateau fracture requiring a metal plate and 9 screws? I am 59, fit female skier of 40 years. Thank you.

@Linzijane18, I use an Ossur CTi but after the first couple of seasons your knee should be strong enough not to need it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

.. you should not need a brace really.... if you do i would suggest your muscles are not strong enough to ski and you will have serious problems, its the muscles that hold it all together, get them biult up...a brace might just give you peace of mind and comfort though
my brace was only on for a few days after the plaster came off... after that it served no purpose. ..unless you have other knee problems that is...
i since had a spiral fracture of the tibia ... a brace would not have helped..

@yorkshirelad, I got mine because of a stretched MCL. I am considering ditching it this season. I skied just fine the season after my fracture...I didn't have full muscle strength but had no problems

No brace will do you much good without drilling holes through you leg bones and using long bolts.

Work HARD on the exercises the physical terrorist recommends.

Drop the din setting on the side that is damaged.

Ski conservatively but enjoy the mountains.
