Hi all
Has anyone any experience of snow reliability in Serre Chevalier around end of Jan time? Also Ski Miquel’s chalet in Monetier les Bains?

The snow at end Jan will be good. No experience or knowledge of Ski Miquel.
Plenty of options whatever your level or skiing. But then I'm biased...

There for our first time last week in Jan into Feb. Working on the principle that the bulk of the skiing is above the treeline, so happy snow will be as good as it can be.

@Telmine, snow will be fine. I haven't stayed in Chalet Charlotte but I believe it was refurbished just a couple of years ago. Traffic noise can be a problem as it is next to a main road .

@Telmine, how many of you are there? Are you set on a chalet, or would self-catering or a hotel be good too? Charlotte is the only large catered chalet in Monetier but there are some in other villages. Crystal, Inghams, Zenith and a couple of others spring to mind. There are other chalets in Monetier, but they are self-catering, although there are couple of companies offering to deliver chalet-style food if you don't want to cook out or eat in the excellent restaurants.

Check out Pinewood Chalets for a small group, flying to Turin and getting the bus to Serre if reducing costs is something you wanted too.

We are staying in Chalet Montalembert Villeneuve with Crystal. Looks pretty good, time will tell!

Been to Serre Chevalier last January, stayed in Briancon in a rented apartment. The domain was wide and perfect, enjoyed skiing all the way from Briancon to the slopes above Monetier and back. They had british army's competitions in between.

We have been to Monterier Les Bains for the last 2 seasons in March, and loved the areas so much we are going back in Jan 2019 for 12 weeks.
The advantage of Monterier is you ski the south facing slopes towards Briancon in the morning / early afternoon and then the North facing slopes home, although in Jan this may not be an issue.
I am sure the snow will be good, or else we are ********

More east facing on the way over.

Thanks all - Serre is sounding good. Ski Miquel is also looking good but wondering about the road noise.... Anyone stayed at Chalet Charlotte? Rooms ensuite which is a bonus.

Or try Hotel de l’Europe where we all stay for the SOPiB. Sarah & Pascal are lovely, Pascal’s cooking is good and the beer’s good.

@Telmine, quite a few stayed there on a couple of SOPiB. Having said that in a ski resort you may be disturbed by pist bashers, snow clearing, etc etc. The Hotel Europe is a little bit further from the road. Good food and excellent hosts.

I’ll be there first week of February next year. I was interested in going with ski Miguel but they never replied to my emails 
It will be my first visit to Serre Chevalier so looking forward to seeing what it’s like.

Ski Miquel never reply to emails in my experience - you have to ring them. Don't think they have quite got to C21st yet.
