Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Everywhere is snow sure in Feb.

When you say "close to the slopes" do you mean ski in/ski out or a short bus/car ride?

Are you looking at doing TO or DIY?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I’d really like ski in/out but in reality we will be looking for a short walk or buss ride, probably doing it our selves as the budget is tights for a couple of the party ? Open to suggestions really wink

have a look at Snowtrex and Sunweb. Both self catering, both go to lesser known to the UK market resorts and both include ski passes.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Npikey, sunweb is a good shout but the other is completely DIY. We did last Feb half term to Salen in Sweden, flying into Oslo, hiring a car, and booked accommodation and lift passes through SkiStar.

We had a chalet in Schladming for 20 actually on the side of the bottom of a piste, ski in ski out, ended up paying about £140 per person for a week purely for the property.

@Npikey, have a look at Are in Sweden. Flights with Easyjet to Ostersund (sp?), get a transfer or hire a car/minibus to resort. Book accommodation with Skistar.

Book flights asap. They are already on sale afaik and the best prices will be gone. But it's still reasonably early so maybe.... If driving, less of an issue but still worth booking earlier rather than later. Two big cars with 5 in each would make it really cheap per person.

Then book accommodation. Depending on where you go that might mean using tourist info offices, resort websites, private websites.

Then book transfers, ski school, equipment hire, as required.

It may be cheaper to get two apartments for 5 close together than a single apartment for 10.

Gasthof Alpenfrieden in Kappl is beside the piste and around €60 a night db&b. Ischgl just up the road too. Innsbruck an hour away. Nighttime can be a bit dull in Kappl but you’ve got one of the best apres towns in the planet just up the rd.

 You know it makes sense.

Npikey, where are you based?
Packages are likely to be expensive that week. So I would look at D-I-Y. Flights at half term are likely to be expensive. But if you are in the North you could look at flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh.
If in the South then look at flights to places less associated with skiing such as Lubjana and ski at Nassfeld.
Or drive

It’s always going to be a compromise between cost / mainstream resorts / convenience /

Some of our group will be at Mantena near Sankt Vigilio (Kronplatz) for €170 each for accommodation. But it is 5 minutes drive from the lifts
