Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rental Packages

Poster: A snowHead
I'm planning on going to Morzine sometime in january and looking for info on the packages you rent, e.g gold/silver. My experience so far has been on rental boards from Glenshee and in xscape, no idea what the setup was but got to the point last season where I could do black runs and off piste, so may need a better standard. Style would be carving at speed and hitting some jumps hopefully. Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated!

Go for a snowboard specific/specialist shop. I'm sure someone will be along to advise about some in Morzine.
From my experience, generic ski rental shops just have beginner snowboards in most sizes. I think this is one reason why snowboarders tend to buy their own planks earlier on in their progression than skiers!

The Woods is a really good snowboard shop and I think they do rentals. They are down the hill towards Bar Robinson (a good landmark in Morzine).
Also Slopestyle over the road from them but not sure whether they do rentals. Good shop, though.

Thanks for the suggestions. Can't see much info on the woods shop, seems like their website is down, however I got a link to doorstep skis which seems to have a variety of Burton performance boards for rental with different descriptions of what they are good for. So much choice!

The Woods is owned by the same guy as Slope Style.
The owner ( JP ) is really nice bloke who has been in Morzine since I can remember ( at least 15 years).
Slope Style sells (nice) stuff, but does not do rental or servicing.
I have never rented from the Woods, but had our boards serviced and repaired there ( maybe 8 times ).
They do it all by hand, and is imho better than the other places I have had stuff done...
Coq & Bull, InterSport etc..
If the rental Service is as good as the board servicing then you're in safe hands.
I know a couple of people who've used Doorstep and they had positive experiences too.

Whatever you do, don't go to Berger near the Plenney. They serviced my Vapor and ground the very well looked after edges away to a fraction of a millimetre left. They wrote off a board that had had 4 weeks use and cost me £700.

They refused to accept what they had done and offered me nothing more than a shrug and a refusal to speak any more English.

Also near the Plenney is FB Freeride. They have a reasonable selection and I've rented from them a few times, when gone on short trips so not taken my own gear. Nice people and well looked after kit. You can also leave your board and boots here after each day's riding... if going off to the Tibettan or the Haka etc snowHead

Have a go with Hubert Sports https://hubertsports.com/en/

Disclaimer: They supply my favourite ski holiday company and I rent my skis from them twice a year. Never attempted a snowboard rental from them since I can't do it.

+ 1 for Alan at Coq & Bull and also + 1 for the Woods.

(if your thinking about buying a Snowboard set-up then the Woods might be able to hire you a board and take any of the rental costs and discount them from a purchase/demo board hire cost).

They are on facebook and you could maybe message them to explore this option.
