We are intermediate skiers and boarders and want to hire equipment in Courmayeur. Can anyone recommend where we can hire decent quality ski and board equipment in Courmayeur at reasonable prices? Is it better to do this over the net or when we arrive?

Hi,
I would give consideration to hiring your gear from the place on the montain at the top of the cable car, the prices and quality are about the same as in the village but it has the great advantage of being able to leave your gear up there free of charge so you do not have to drag it up and down the cable car every day. We have used them a few times and the service and quality have been good. I can't remember the name but you should be able to find it on the net.

globalbagtag.com, is spot on with this advice. You have to walk about 400 yards to get to any decent skiing from the top of the cable car anyway so hire on the mountain. If any of your grouip have your own skis go up in normal shoes/boots and leave your ski stuff overnight. Allows for a much quicker exit to The American Bar in town where the apres is pretty good.

Cheers garywilk. Have you ever taken any ski/board lessons there from someone you would recommend. There is one boarder and 3 skiers. We don't want lessons every day so we were thinking of getting some private tuition from someone who could help the whole group. Any comment/suggestions?

Hi again Spongbob,
I just found an old bill from the Ski hire shop on the mountain it is called Ski-In http://www.skiincourmayeur.it/eng/biglietteria.htm
If you need lessons I would try and book in advance, we had trouble getting one of our party an instructor last time we went, they get very busy.
Regards
Chris.
