Poster: A snowHead

Anyone stayed in Tignes Les Brevieres? Would obviously prefer to be in Le Lac etc, but not available for my dates.
The brochures say there are 3 lifts up to main areas and a number of bars etc for reasonable apres beers - but whats the real story!
Cheers all

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Never stayed there, only skied down to it for a couple of lunches. It's another world compared to Le Lac - ie proper rustic little village (quite scenic) compared to purpose built, slopeside tower blocks. Been to a couple of really nice restaurants but wasn't (at lunchtime) looking for apres ski possibilities.
Access to the slopes and the runs back to the village are both excellent. I wouldn't rule it out.
If you do go there, some of the lifts up towards the Aiguille Percee are about the slowest in the whole Espace Killy. It takes ages to get to Tignes Val Claret and the Grande Motte that way. Fine if you have plenty of time on your hands but if you want to get there quickly, take the gondola from Les Brevieres then ski down to the Aeroski in Le Lac. From the top of the Aeroski you can ski directly to the Grande Motte lifts at Val Claret.

Lovely little village, getting bigger due to more (Dutch?) chalet companies building there. A few bars, but the only lively one is a kind of underground place under one of the chalet hotels. Easy access into Tignes itself via the gondola, plus a chair. Ski back is down a long winding road if you want, or the Sache for the more adventurous> I've only been in March, and we've never had any problem getting back.
I like it

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

wilko, Stayed March 2007,runs back down i found to be excellent,to get up the mountain we just took the fastest route(gondola). Afew nice restaurants but most of the time we ate in the chalet, the best place for a beer we found to be Vincents bar which was lively and friendly and if George still plays in the week it is the best night.
