Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bardonecchia

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Got back from Bardonecchia in Italy yesterday and they are really struggling with some of the westerly facing slopes that catch the sun in the afternoon.

Only 13 lifts open, but the slopes that are open do have quite a bit of man mad stuff on it and was quite nice. just a bit icey in the afternoons.

The other nearby resorts (sauze, claviere etc) are all having the same problems apprently as they haven't had any snow since boxing day.

Having said all that, we did have a fab week!!!!

If anybody is intrested, here's my pics. It's sited on the Kodak/ofoto site and if you haven't already you may need to register to view but it's free and painless!

17-23 january

just back today (sunday), good skiing mon, tue, snow on wed afternoon and great skiing, warmer temperatures and thawing led to porridge on lower segments of runs for the rest of the week, tops of runs still good though, some snow overnight on friday night, quite good skiing on saturday, woke on sunday morning to fall of about 6 inches of snow overnight on saturday night, should be good skiing this week if the temperatures stay low.

the higher runs were not open due to lack of retained snow, what had fallen had blown away due to very high winds, this constrained the number of open pistes. jafferau in particular had only a single run open, not really worth the 20-30 minute ascent on the two chairs and single poma running, especially as we had to carry our skis on the first chair - unless off piste powder is your target, this was good on saturday.

overall, they still need a lot of snow as the piste depth is very thin in places, lots of brown patches and stones in places, just about ruined my bases over the course of a weeks skiing.
