Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Injury prevention when on the slopes???

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys

Going skiing for the first time soon- anything i can do to reduce the change of injurys? Warming up seems sensible, but otherwise??

I know i know- dont go too fast- but i wont learn as quickly if i stay in my comfort zone Very Happy

Which body parts am i most likely to damage? My knees perhaps? In which case- is it worth wearing knee supports? Or will this limit my flexibility and stop me strengthening the area?

Cheers, Greg

Get rid of the negative attitude, relax and remember you are on holiday.

billy_boy_2010, just chill. Ski injuries, despite the negative media hype, are actually very rare. In 34 years of skiing I've never had anything worse than a bruise. By all means wear a helmet if you choose but your best 'safety feature' is your own brain and common sense. 'Going ape on the mountain' is not what skiing's about and no amount of body armour is going to save you if you throw yourself down slopes without any regard for yourself or fellow slope users. Get some decent tuition, relax and enjoy yourself.

billy_boy_2010, read, understand and follow the ten rules of skiing. These rules are often printed on piste maps. This site lists the rules, the PDF files gives a commentary on the ten rules.
