Anyone tried these boots (rotating cuff etc)? They look very trick for skinning. I'm just wondering if they live up to the hype.

@bar shaker, They don't fit me (I have a high instep) but I haven't seen any negatives. You may well find the Salomon X-Alp version easier to find and test.

I'm probably not in the market for them, but I like the tech.
I'm looking for something new to use on icy pistes, as that's the only days I put two planks on.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Tried both these and the atomic backland carbon. Seemed v similar design and fit but went for the atomic boot in the end just because they seem to have more history in ski boot manufacturer. Skied 21 days in them so far and am happy.

Have skied with a couple of folks using them this winter - both very strong skiers, both seemed pretty happy with them.
All depends if they fit your foot of course!

the Arcteryx and the salomon is the same boots, collaborative design teams for the project, it is now branded as the salomon as they felt they could sell more that way

This wrong, well so I believe from what I have read by the afformentioned Lou on wildsnow.com. The arcteryx is a glorified mountaineering boot made to ski. Where as for the new Salamon version they have added a few touch's to make it a better skiing boot. (Salmon & Arcteryx are owned by the same parent company, but the last few years Salamon have really been pushing ski touring so have been working on lots of quality stuff.)

OliC, you might want to do a bit of research in to what CEM does & his relationship with Salomon.

@OliC, there have been minor changes, but fundamentally the same boot, i am well aware of the ownership of the companies as i do some consultancy for the other boot brand they own from time to time
