Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi All,
Heading out to Malaga area at Easter for a bit of a family chill out. Can probably blag one day for skiing so was wondering if anyone has any info on what kind of condition Veleta would be for a ski up and down. Resort seems to go till end of April, but no idea what kind of season they've had this year.
Also, any info on touring in the area would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

Piste-wise it's fine, as one would expect for a resort which habitually stays open until May. Off-piste, not so much, at the moment.
Naturally, the skiing is spring skiing at this time of year.
Just as anywhere else, you'll need to keep checking the weather forecasts. Hopefully there will be several more decent snowfalls before the end of the season.

They have had a lot of snow fall this year and so the depths on piste should be pretty good for a while yet

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Freestyle champs shown on eurosport show the area as fairly bare off pisted areas, but it's reasonably high so what's there should last. I spent 2 weeks there in 92 about this time of year and it was brilliant sunshine every day, never snowed once whole there, but snow cover remained constant.

Has just dumped down. Will be an excellent choice for some late-season skiing. (And would have been anyway, without the new snow; one day, the word will get around that springtime is the most reliable skiing time whe you're on the Iberian peninsular )
