Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I've been telemarking for a few seasons in resort. I'm thinking of trying out touring for the first time. I'm wondering if it's quite easy to buy skins in the resort?

@freethemind, most likely there'll be a store that sells skins. Of course you also need the 3 pieces of safety equipment as a minimum too, shovel, transceiver and probes.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

On the same topic - does anyone know which shops sell skins in Alpe d'huez?

Of course you know that skins either have to be made for your skis or cut to fit your skis? And if cut to fit, you will also need mounting clips... It's not a very difficult job, but I'm not sure many shops in resort will have all the bits to fit all skis... I would check if I were you.

You may struggle to find something which fits your skis perfectly- it’s a bit of a gamble as to who has what stock at this stage of the season.

There will be plenty of places in ADH which sell skins. I bought some there 20 years ago when they were a much less mainstream item than they are now. It’s just a question of what stock they still have

@freethemind, google.fr shows a few shops specialising in rando.

Go to Google.fr and search
magasin de ski randoee alpes d'huez

Any decent rando shop will have skins on a roll and will make them up for you giving you various options, I actually don't use tail clips on some of my skins as they've cut 20cm short from the tail.
