Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Weve been there 4 years on the trot - love it- however last year my 8 year old stayed still regarding lessons with ESF are Oxygene better for kids learning to ski?

juliebenn, We had a very good experience with Oxygene in Plagne centre in 2005. We had lots of kids in our group and hence English was the language. Make sureit is for your lessons. Contact them well in advance. They were good via e mail

Oygene are good but have you thought about reflex? They are a small ski school who operate out of Plagne 1800 but they meet for lessons in Plagne Centre. They mainly deal with private and small group lessons but if you 8 year old is no longer a beginner this may well be a way to move things forward. In my opinion group lessons after beginner stage can be a little bit "follow my leader". This would also meant you would be able to spend more skiing time with your child.

FYI I worked a seaon in La Plagne as a ski host so have good insider knowledge of the ski schools.

Christoph Lagu is the name of the chap at reflex, he is a realy friendly funny guy.

Take a look at their website. They are very child friendly as christoph has a little one himself (probably 3 yrs old now), and also fantastic english (he is married to and english lady).

Oxygene without a doubt. They learnt me to ski, so anything is possible Wink

The ESF are truly pants, why they have this super reputatuion is beyond me. They are rude, are very much inclined to take your money and keep you as you say standing still as far as lessons go and I saw a lot of kids when i was in Courchevel in march in tears witht hem and their so called style.

We've booked our 6yr old daughter into Magic in Motion - saw a lot of good results from them last year, so here's hoping.

Its important to remeber that skiing for kids should be fun, with the ESF i get the impression its not!

adam_button, ESF varies from resort to resort. I did a ski season last year and alot of our guests/ 90% used ESF and we never heard a complaint. I used ESF and found them good. My brother had lessons with Reflex as we wanted private at a different time and they were FANTASTIC! They meet in 1800 or centre, where are you staying?

adam_button, Went to Les Arc in 2005 and enrolled my boys in the ESF,wasn't too pleased with them as one day my eldest (13 at the time) took a tumble,by the time he had righted himself the school had taken a turn and were out of sight, leaving my boy half way up the mountain, with no way of seeing which way was back to the resort!

The teacher took no head count on the way down and it was only when at the bottom,my youngest pionted out his brother was missing!!

Luckily some friends,by pure coincidence, where skiing past my son,who had been sitting in the snow for 10 mins and brought him down.

When i asked the ESF teacher what he was playing at,he gave me a Gallic shrug and said no worries as someone would have eventually found him anyway!

Oxygene over ESF, but I would always choose Reflex now. My 2 boys learned with Christophe when he was with Oxygene, but we have transferred to Reflex since he started the company. We have been skiing with Christophe for almost 10 years - great guy.

juliebenn, inbetween the chaudron and Bec Fin Restaurants. (Chaudron is the one that is on it's own and diamond shaped).

Basically if you ski down to plagne centre to where oxygene are, Reflex are just to the right. You will see the big orange flags.

juliebenn, my youngest son (now aged 15) refuses to return to la Plagne because of an awful ESF instructor that he had aged 8! I don't know if he's still there but he certainly put my son off the place.

Do not use ESF, tried 2 instructors at Plagne centre who were extremely rude and incompetent. Even in a private lesson the children did not learn and finished up hating their experience. Can highly recommend Reflex, Christophe pays close attention, and gives an enjoyable and rewarding lesson.
