Which is the best chain shop in france for hiring skis and boots?
this is when hiring intermediate quality skis
what is the best in terms of
1. quality new skis and boots
2. prices
how much do the stores vary between resorts?. do they all have brand new skis and boots every season?

Christopher, AFAIK, all the "chain" are in fact franchises. "Vieux Campeur" may be an exception. So the variation can be huge.
Many/most stores will have the latest kit as "test" or "prestige" range with older kit moving down the cost scale.
You would be best asking specifically for your resort & whether if anyone has any recommendations.

yeah we used them through a Tour op last year. No problems, more than helpful.
What resort is that in?

We signed on to the Intersport thing 2 years ago, it has perhaps damaged our shops technical image, but their Rental Structure and operation is second to none, it is for this reason we signed.
