Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Banff New Yrs Eve - good restaurant?

One other suggestion is The Post Hotel in Lake Louise. It has an incredible New Year's Eve meal each year and if you are lucky enough to get a room, you should be automtically entitled to go to the event (although it is of course an additional cost). They also have an incredible New Year's Day brunch which is almost worth sacrificing a days skiing for and is reasonably priced and a lot easier to get into than the evening meal.

We have been lucky enough to go to the New Year's Eve dinner three times including the millenium night when there was a ten course meal, live band and copious drinking and partying through the night. It did come at a cost though, the meal was $700 for two, our drinks bill was another $700 and the baby sitter (that we booked 12 months previously) cost another $500! Apart from the night itself, another fond memory I have is of my wife having to take our daughter on the promised dog sled ride the following morning at about -20C and looking very green, whilst I was left in the warm looking after (otherwise known as crashed out next to) our sleeping baby boy Twisted Evil

Shocked In my young day you could get a nice little terraced house for that sort of money, or at least a lifetime supply of steak at 7/6d a time at the Berni Inn. More recently I fancy I have had an extremely good last minute catered chalet in Courchevel for rather less.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

heresy - food always secondary to skiing.

The Post is a fine restaurant indeed, and while pricey, it is easily possible to spend somewhat less than you did on a normal night. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you like a decent wine list.

Strewth. My only experience of the LL Post House is a perfectly decent plate of nachos in the bar, but I find it astonishing that you can pay £350/skull for dinner anywhere in Canada and feel that you have your money's worth. Still, you live and learn.
