Hey. If anyone is heading out to Wanaka and looking for accomodation I have just secured a nice fully furnished (exc. bed sheets) 3 bedroom house in Wanaka 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. There are 2 of us in there so far: me, a 28yo male boarder and a 26yo female boarder also from the UK. I have one room available with a bunk and single bed but ideally looking for 2 single 24+ seasonaires to share it and leave the third bed free (better not to be cramped). I have photos and more information if you message me. It is available from 29th May to the 2nd September but I don't know for sure but it can probably be extended. Total cost is NZ$150 per person per week + bills. The landlord requires references from your most recent landlord or evidence of owning your own property so try to have this available to forward on to me.
Sorry, if I am a little slow to respond but I currently working on a yacht which means I don't always have the internet available.

I am looking at making the move from whistler to NZ for the summer, and likely race coaching jobs for either treble cone or queenstown. This sounds like a really good idea, as I am doing up my apartment in may to rent out over the summer and was looking to travel out then. at a push I could get references from my landlords for my previous seasons before I bought my place. Originally from the UK, 3 seasons in Canada now, 29yo skier.
Where abouts in town is it? I have a spent a few days there travelling through a couple of years back and some stuff is up the hill, but nothing is really that far away in any case.

So by my reckoning that works out to be NZ$ 1,200 a month for 2 people to share a room (NZ$ 600 per person) in a 3-bedroom house.
Assuming that the other 2 people already in are paying at least NZ$ 600 each that works out to NZ$ 2,400 per month to rent a 3-bedroom house in Wanaka.
Is that the going rate or is Simwit taking the wee wee?
If it's the former, then that's really expensive.
That's double what I was paying in Keystone, Colorado and here in Hirafu, Japan.
And for half that amount you could rent a 3-bedroom house in one of the Chilean or Argentinian ski towns.

Sonmeone is being ripped off either Simwit or Simwit is on the take.
NZ is cheap NZ$ 2,400 per month seems quite high
