Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I've never been to Kitzbuhel, because so many people have told me it's low, and therefore not snow-sure. I have learned better on here, and am thinking of giving it a try one day.

Thinking about Val D'isere now - never really considered it before but glacier and height make it a pretty good option. Plus, EK has 300km of runs, which is about right for me and the wifey.

Specialman,
You may be lucky to get 300km of skiing anywhere in the second week of december. Lech and Obertauern are both said to have decent early season snow records, but if it's a bad year there is no glacier for back up. Personally I would go along with the book late school of thought.

T Bar, yeah, 300km of skiing then is very unlikely. Val D'Isere's World Cup ski races must be the most cancelled races of the lot and they happen around 2nd/3rd week of December. Mind you I have never understood why anyone needs 300km or more of piste.

Agree though if I was wanting mileage at that time of year with a bit of life Ischgl may be worth looking at.

A timely debate, as one who is balancing the equation of stumping up the total cost last minute with spreading the cost by booking early. We've been looking at Livigno, Tignes, L2A, Val T and La Plagne (1800) amongst others for the high options for the first week in Jan. Maybe time to look at Austria?
